New Years Day Tom's Thumb From Gateway Trailhead

Tom's Thumb from Gateway Trailhead

January 1st 2022

Distance: 11.2 miles

Location: Phoenix AZ

Hiking Partners: Colin, Shane and Uncle J

This was another redemption hike I'd been wanting to go on all winter. Last time we attempted this hike I was still recovering from a very close call with heat stroke in the Chiricahua National Park so I only made it 3 miles into the hike and 6 miles round trip. This time we made it the whole way no problem.

This trail is well marked, easy to follow and well maintained.

There's a couple sections of of the hike that you'll have to do a bit of boulder hopping but otherwise its a pretty straight forward hike.

Once you get to Tom's Thumb, there's a ton of great picture opportunities.

To top it all off. I was hiking with my new Osprey pack!

This was a great local hike. We'll be back.

Until Next Time!
