Weavers Needle

 Weavers Needle

January 29th 2021

Distance: 12.4 Miles

Hiking Partners: Colin and Uncle J

This is a hike we've been wanting to do for quite some time. We have tons of pictures from previous hikes with Weavers Needle in the background but had never hiked it so today was the day.

Starting from the trail head you ascend a VERY popular trail to the saddle near Weavers Needle. There's some pretty cool sights to see along the way.

Once at the Saddle, Weavers Needle is in plain view.

Now the fun really begins. Once you descend down to the base of the Needle the trail pretty much disappears. Way finding, bouldering and scrambling are key parts to this section of the trail.

There's some cool rock formations on the way up.

and even a few hidden treasures.

We decided to post up near the top on this awesome ledge and a great overlook.

Now it was time to head down.

While the trail up was a challenge the trail down was even more. As we scrambled to get up there we had to scramble to get back down. We had one close call when Uncle J hit a loose patch of rocks which sent one tumbling down the mountain towards Colin. A lot of yelling and being aware of his surroundings Colin dodged the rock and no injuries came of it. Close call!

We had a great time on this trail and will defiantly be back.

Until Next Time!
